Update to a Project

A while back I completed a window dressing in warm earth tones. Here it is with a view of a gorgeous forest:

My client was so happy with the results he wants to add to his hanging pieces. So I've been business designing, cutting, and firing to come up with the perfect addition.

Here is a glimpse at the design phase.

I think these colors and leaves will compliment my clients current piece and I'm excited to see the new additions come together. I like to remind clients that my artwork can be purchased in single panels, in pairs, or groups. And hanging pieces can be added to at any point.

Happy New Year! I'm Back at It!

I hope you all had a fabulous holiday season and have been enjoying these first few weeks of 2016! Can you believe another year has come and gone?

The end of last year was a time of big changes for me and my studio. I started the arduous process of relocating my studio and have been making slow but steady progress. Here is a sneak peak:

Piece meal production at my new studio in Midway.

It doesn't look like much at the moment but it's coming together. I'm designing and cutting in one location and firing in another, so I've had to adjust my approach during this transition period.

But enough about the in-between. Let's talk about the now! Right now I'm hard at work on some adorable cat ornaments, just in time for the Valentines season.

Though I'm a dog person at heart, I've had a lot of fun designing and creating these felines. I love the details of the whiskers and the accented heart. Each ornament comes wrapped in plastic and includes an artist statement.

Check back for more updates on products and my new studio in the new few weeks. As always, please feel free to reach out to me here on the blog, at moragdesigns@gmail.com, or leave a comment on the homepage. Thanks for stopping by!

Annual Art Show

I can't believe that it's time once again for my Annual Art Show!

I look forward to gathering fellow artists at my home every year for a day of art, food, and fun. This year's show will be on Saturday, October 24, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at my home in Park City, Utah. Bring your friends, bring your family, bring your neighbors and come get an early start on your Christmas shopping! I will post a finalized list of the other artists who will be attending the show on next week's blog, so look out for that.

In the mean time, here are some new monkey tiles to hold you over. Each tile is approximately 10" x 8" and comes with a silver wire hanger.

Hope everyone is enjoying their fall!

Another Cat

I have been on a cat-kick lately and just had to share this wonderfully inky black cat tile.

A gorgeous deep black-blue, he is approximately 8" x 8 1/2" and comes with his own wire hanger, for $52 per tile. I have gotten many requests for cats over the years and finally succumbed to the pressure and found that I really enjoy making these friendly felines, even if I am more of a dog person at heart. There is so much room to play with color and whisker placement- sometimes I expect these guys to walk right off the tile and slinky across the floor of my studio!

If there is a cat color combo (say that three times fast!) that you're dying to see, let me know! Reach out to me here on the blog, using the contact form on the homepage of my site, or at moragdesigns@gmail.com.

I will continue to update the blog with whatever fantastical creatures come to life in my studio, so check back often!

Fall is Here and We Have a New Site!

Over the past few weeks, my website has been tweaked and updated, and we are pleased to announce the new Morag Designs site. Same art, new look. This cleaner, more simple design will allow the art to speak for itself without distraction. Take a look around and let me know what you think of the new design.

And now, on to fall! The mornings are chillier, there's a crisp tinge in the air, and the leaves has started to change. And what better way to welcome fall than with a burnt orange cat tile.

These new cat tiles are the purrfect addition to any room and require little to no care or feeding, which makes them a great option for nearly every home.  Cat tiles are available in multiple colors and includes a silver wire hanger.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me here or at moragdesigns@gmail.com for any questions or comments. Happy fall, everyone!

An Update

As promised, I have an update on The Bird of Paradise and it's trip to The Land Down Under.  Here she is in her new home. It was a long flight, but I think she's adjusting very nicely.

And since today is a day for updates, I'm very excited to announce that my site is under going a complete re-design. Behind the scenes, my website elves are working hard to overhaul my site to give it a cleaner, more uniformed look and feel.

Please stay tuned in the next few weeks for more updates. I'm really excited to show off the new site once it's complete. Same address, same artist, new look.

Thanks as always for stopping by. Please feel free to reach out to me here or at moragdesigns@gmail.com.

Back At It

It has been a very busy summer in my studio! As such, I haven't had a chance to update you all on what I've been working on, but that changes today.

Most recently I've been working with two clients to do custom window pieces for their homes. The first was a primary color-inspired window piece that features gorgeous swirled glass. Here it is pre-assembly:

And here it is once it's been installed in the client's home, looking beautiful against the lush green background of their yard:

The other custom piece I worked on used calming blues, greens, and purples, and some really fun seahorses. And the finished product couldn't have turned out any better. I just love the view these little creatures have!

I love the fluffy clouds in the background. These seahorses look like they're swimming through the sky.

These two projects are just a taste of what I've been cooking up these past few months. In the weeks to come, stay tuned to see what else came together over the summer, as well as the new projects I have in the works.

Thanks for checking out the blog this week. Please feel free to reach out to me here or at moragdesigns@gmail.com with any questions, comments, or general wonderings.

Trip Down Under

This week, I'm sending a very special bird on a very special trip to the Land Down Under. It will be a surprise delivery and I cannot wait to hear from the lucky recipient.

A gorgeous teal body, antique  mother of pearl eyes, and a rich purple beak make up this striking bird. I imagine this creature delicately perched by the waters edge, waiting for the perfect moment to expertly pierce the water and pull out at a passing fish. A fine breakfast, indeed.

This beauty will live in a picturesque home overlooking lush green fields and rolling hills. I truly envy this bird, and look forward to seeing pictures of her in her new home. Stay tuned for updates on this girl in her new Aussie home.

Designing pieces for my loved ones and people who are close to me is the best part of my job. I love the joy I get from the thoughtful arrangement of color and accent items and of course, the final delivery when I get to see my art in their home.

Please feel free to reach out to me here or at moragdesigns@gmail.com. Thanks for stopping by!

A Summer Blackbird

Here we are, well into the summer months, and what better way to celebrate the warm weather than with a beautiful raven-colored beauty.

She stands firm on her painted wooden base and proudly displays her inky-blue/black fire-polished wings. A sturdy brass safety fin imprinted with her name sake, #D24 She Who Loves to Fly,  adds some flare to her otherwise understated body. Found metal bits make up her piercing eyes.

She's a force to be reckoned with and flies where she pleases.

I'll be working on more feathered friends in the coming weeks, including a lovely bird of paradise who is bound for The Land Down Under. Stay tuned!

Please feel free to reach out to me here or at moragdesigns@gmail.com, with any questions or suggestions.

Have a fun, safe Fourth of July!

The BOX Show

I'm very excited to be participating in The BOX Show at UTah Artist Hands. The show, which runs from June 19 to August 19, features Utah artists and the art they've created with or inspired by boxes. The show will include oil paintings, sculptures, and more!

I loved this idea and totally ran with it and created my Enchanted Entomology box. This bug box showcases my whimsical beetles and other flying bugs and is meant to invoke a scientific feel.

Cats & Dogs Living Together!

My dogs are one of my best sellers, as Park City is full of dog lovers. But my clients who love their feline friends were feeling left out. So, after many requests for cats, I've finally broken down and made a few. Check them out:

They are a similar style to the dogs, but instead of a side profile, I have a whole face to work with. The whisker details are my favorite.

These kitties (and puppies) are headed out to various galleries around the state and the country and will be looking for new homes.

If you're thinking about expanding your furry family, but don't want too much responsibility, consider one of these glass creations! They are self-sufficient, mild-mannered, and fiercely loyal. Stop by your favorite gallery today and ask if they carry Morag Designs.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me here on the blog or at MoragDesigns@gmail.com.

Summer Creations

After a busy week at the American Craft Retailers Expo in Las Vegas, I'm back to the production line. I have a lot of artwork flying out the door these next few weeks and wanted you all to get a sneak preview.

These striking butterflies look beautiful in a kitchen window or hanging out in groups. They are on their way to Livin' Life Gallery, at 577A Main Street, in Park City, Utah.

And these fine fish are swimming over to Pacific Gallery, in Laguna Beach, California.

Keep an eye out for original Morag Designs artwork at your favorite galleries. And if you know of a gallery you think my colorful artwork would fit nicely, please let me know! As always, you can contact me here on the blog, or at moragdesigns@gmail.com.

Creative Chaos Continues

Over the next few weeks I will be busy churning out as much new product as I can. Spring and summer are a hectic time for me, as everyone is emerging from the winter season craving vibrant hues and whimsical creations. And  my art is just what the doctor ordered!

Here is a peek at what is currently on the production line:

A few colorful puppies, a legless zebra, and a kooky dragonfly.
